BCIP - WHAT & WHY?

Mission Statement:

Bangladesh Centre for Intellectual Property (BCIP) is a leading think tank dedicated to promoting, protecting, and enhancing intellectual property rights in Bangladesh. Our mission is to foster innovation, creativity, and economic growth by providing policy analysis, research, and thought leadership in intellectual property. We aim to contribute to the development of a robust intellectual property ecosystem that supports the interests of creators, inventors, businesses, and society as a whole.

Vision:

To be recognized as a trusted and influential institution that drives intellectual property policy reforms fosters innovation and facilitates the sustainable growth of Bangladesh's knowledge-based economy.

Objectives:

Policy Advocacy: Engage with government bodies, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to advocate for effective intellectual property laws and policies that stimulate innovation, protect intellectual assets, and encourage technology transfer and collaboration.
Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on intellectual property issues, including copyright, patents, trademarks, and industrial designs, to generate evidence-based insights and recommendations for policymakers, businesses, and legal practitioners.
Capacity Building: Organize workshops, training programs, and seminars to enhance awareness, knowledge, and understanding of intellectual property rights among various stakeholders, including researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs, legal professionals, and enforcement agencies.
Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster collaborations and partnerships with domestic and international organizations, academia, industry associations, and research institutions to exchange best practices, share expertise, and develop joint initiatives aimed at strengthening intellectual property protection and enforcement.
Public Awareness and Education: Conduct awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to educate the public about the value of intellectual property, its role in driving innovation, and the importance of respecting and protecting intellectual property rights.
International Engagement: Actively participate in international forums, conferences, and negotiations related to intellectual property to represent Bangladesh's interests, influence global policy discussions, and leverage international best practices for the country's benefit.
